Working plan

  1. Implementation of prototypes and identification of minimum required information for the integrated system

The project is based on the implementation of prototypes in two regions (Wallonia and Gers) that have sufficiently different socio-economic and agricultural characteristics to allow testing the different functionalities of the new evolved IACS. In Wallonia, the test region is mainly concerned by industrial vegetable and field crop productions. In Gers, forage and field crop productions will be used to test the prototype. These prototypes will use the existing operational structure of monitoring systems in each test region and will allow, if necessary to define the required modifications in order to change from to the « Ilots CAP » system to the Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) or to the elementary management unit. A comparative analysis of agricultural production systems implemented in the two test regions will be carried out in such a way as to highlight the different obstacles using the LPIS for authentification and geographic traceability. .

The work that will be carried out includes the following tasks :

  • Set up an inventory of existing available and geo-referenced generic data in each test region.

  • Analyse the different types of data collected in two or more selected food chains in order to identify a common minimum data set basis in each region.

  • Analysis of the data model in order to link information (spatial, descriptive, temporal, meta-data, etc) from multiple sources (maps, images, statistics, etc.) and different presentation formats within a unique system. The use of data models will ensure a good integration of available information. The means of standardising the data and expressing them in the LPIS should also be studied in order to optimise data standardisation.

  • Creation of a common catalogue of spatial data (geo indexed) for both test sites in order to provide all the partners in the project with a consolidated picture of the geo-traceability data. This catalogue will allow each partner in the project to test the possibility of playing, with respect to others, the role of information supplier. The creation of this catalogue will be based on the specifications laid down in the Open GIS catalogues.

  • Establishing quality control protocol for the data of the spatial reference information system. The common quality control functionalities will also be studied using specific standards for monitoring requirements of the new CAP regulations or the traceability data management. The standards should: include the norms associated with the acquisition, processing and presentation of the information.

  • Development of rules and procedures governing access to data in order to ensure their security and confidentiality. Definition of the control and accessibility mechanisms for the different information categories.
